Alessandro Marzaroli
1868 - 1951
Alessandro Marzaroli was born in Parma in 1868, the son of the sculptor Cristoforo Marzaroli. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Parma and, after winning a teaching competition in 1913, became a professor of sculpture at the same institution, where he taught for twenty-seven years.
Among his best-known works are the Monument to Filippo Corridoni in Parma, the Monument to the Fallen of Adwa, and several sculptures in the city's Monumental Cemetery. He also contributed to the Monument to Giuseppe Verdi by Ettore Ximenes, sculpting some of its statues.
