Marino Mazzacurati

1907 - 1969

Marino Mazzacurati was born in Galliera, near Bologna, on July 22, 1907. After studying in Padua and Rome, he became one of the leading figures of the Roman School, developing a style that ranged from Expressionism to Realism. Throughout his career he worked as both a sculptor and a painter. 

Among his best-known public works is the Monument to the Partisan in Parma, created between 1954 and 1956. He also taught sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and was awarded the Italian National Prize for Sculpture before his death in Parma in 1969.
