Agostino Ferrarini
1828 - 1898
Agostino Ferrarini was a renowned 19th-century Italian sculptor. He was born in Parma on January 4, 1828. From a young age, he showed a talent for creating small sculptures and bas-reliefs, encouraged by figures such as Paolo Toschi and Tommaso Bandini to pursue artistic studies.
After winning a prestigious artistic scholarship to study in Florence for three consecutive years, Ferrarini returned to Parma in 1853. He became a professor of sculpture and later served as Director of the Institute of Fine Arts, President of the Society for the Encouragement of Artists, President of the Academic College, and a member of the Commission for the Preservation of Monuments.
